Man Threatens Police with Ax

10-16-04- A Durant man held police at bay for three hours Saturday night when they responded to a domestic disturbance at a home on 2nd Street.

Police say David Parker came at an officer with an ax and caused a three hour stand-off with authorities. It started around 5:30 p.m. this afternoon when parker holed up inside his home refsuing to go to jail or talk to police.

Authorities brought in a negotiator and Parker surrounded around 8:30 p.m. He was taken into custody for a psychological evaluation. Late Saturday evening, no charges had been filed.

Durant police called in a SWAT team to assist, but those officers did not have to go into the home.
