PARIS, Tex. -- Reports of a Bigfoot sighting in Atoka County surfaced in 2006, and you saw the story here on First News, but nothing much came of that sighting. Now rumors of Bigfoot’s return have surfaced in the woods outside Paris, Texas, so we sent Daniel Gotera to try and find out if the creature is fact or fiction.

It’s a legendary tale that spans generations about a creature so large and so abnormal that lives amongst the trees, but despite “documented video evidence”, people still don’t know if the legend of Bigfoot is one of fantasy or reality.

While many we talked to aren’t believers, those skeptics could be surprised that the hairy monster is closer than they thought.

Meet Tom Biscardi, a man who some have called the world’s leading expert on Bigfoot. Biscardi is an explorer who travels the country six months of the year looking for the creature and who doesn't care what people say about his passion because he says he knows that the legend is true.

"I was the biggest doubting skeptical person in the world back in 1973, but I found out the mistakes they made."

Those mistakes which Biscardi and his team of investigators say they have corrected by recording footage back in March.--never before seen by anyone else-- in the woods surrounding Pat Mayes Lake outside Paris, Texas.

"It just gets us even closer to the end of our quest, and that it just proves that there is another species out there that nobody’s ever heard about”

When asked what goes through your mind when he saw that video, Biscardi’s response was, “I freaked out."

In what Biscardi calls the hottest Bigfoot area of the country, the Pat Mayes Lake Swamp, an apelike creature has been seen by several locals, and now he wants to capture it, but to do that a plan of action is needed.

"The whole area is going to be illuminated and I’ll have so many people here that we'll catch this creature as it comes back out. We've got our darts, we've got our biopsy, we're prepared tonight, and this might just be history come true."

So in order to see first hand, I went along with the group on their latest expedition to the swamp at Pat Mayes Lake, but before our trek into the wilderness, the crew detailed some of the items they would use to reel in the creature.

"Heat seaker, night vision goggles, vest, 50,000-volt taser, thermal image...These are our 300,000 volt cattle prod just in case…that will take down an 800-pound bull..."

T.J. Biscardi is Tom's son, and once we arrived at the location at 8:30 in the evening he made sure everyone knew their role in the nights hunt with safety being a number one priority.

"Boom, you check to see if the person is in front of you still, I don’t want someone getting lost and going the wrong direction. If you can’t see the person in front of you, you're not following close enough.”

"If you feel that you're being threatened at any point in time open up your mouth and we'll all remember collapse to the middle and bunch up as a team."

And after a prayer, we set out not knowing what or who we would encounter in the vast darkness.

When asked how much of a thrill it is every time he goes out, Biscardi responded, “It’s like turning over another stone. I just can’t wait to turn it over to see what’s underneath.”

“This is the night, though that if it does come back, I have enough manpower and enough camera crews all over the place that we might get enough film or a physical capture."

For the previous four days in Paris, Tom Biscardi and his team searching for Bigfoot toured the area looking for any signs of the creature, but unlike previous visits this time the creature wanted to communicate right back.

Large slashes, resulting for what Biscardi says have been large boulders thrown in the water by the swamp ape, alerting family that visitors were in the area.

"Did you see it? He threw one out there. Did you see it?"

Biscardi says each night as soon as they arrived on scene the team heard three splashes. This night, there were five.

"Did you hear it? Did you hear it? My guys are flushing him; my guys are out there right now flushing them out that way."

But for Tom, just hearing the splashes isn't enough. He wants visual proof.

"We've got three cameras right now deployed around the cove besides the one you already saw these are the three here, and then we have three receiver boxes in the trees so there’s one over there and there’s one here and there’s one here."

Rex Howdyshell is in charge of setting up audio and visual equipment around the swamp. Each video feed is recorded onto a VCR with a multiplexer that will take the three images and record them at the same time.

"These guys are getting paid for their expertise. They are putting their lives on the line. Man, you know this is a huge amount of money. Just on this expedition alone is about $70,000 for the week, so it’s not two cents, but we're successful at what we do, you see the elaborateness of what we do and the quality of the video you get. When we get up to the top, I’m going to show you the thermal imager. Anything that has blood running through it, you're going to see it. "

Biscardi is one of many who say they have seen one of the many species of Bigfoot up close and personal, and its those experiences that help him hone in on capturing one.

"Twelve feet is the closest that I’ve ever seen one of these creatures, and that was in northern California. We were in about 100 yards and all of a sudden I started to smell this stink, and then I saw it run. As it turned and looked at me, I thought I was looking at a human being. It just totally just blew me away, and it just stops you in your tracks. Oh yeah, I gotta tell you we ran like hell.”

It was that moment a report came in from the team down by the lake regarding the splashes from stones allegedly thrown by the creature.

"Who was forced to go into the water? No that’s what made the splash! What was it? A beaver? That made that big splash? Yeah, you actually saw it. All I could see is the head swimming across the top of the water and then they slammed their tail into the water. Splash. Did you see it? He threw one in there. Did you see it? Is that a confirmation from everybody else? Ok, well stand still. Stay at your post, keep seeing what’s going on."

But as quickly as the disappointment the beaver had set in, anticipation soon returned after Biscardi and I saw what appeared to be two eyes looking right back at us on the shores of the swamp.

"We definitely saw two eyes out there, and there was something moving. No question about it. I’m not talking about a beaver, I’m talking about something that was big. I had the light on there and it was moving around up right."

As the night rolled on the crew heard more sounds. To suggest that there was something out there, and Biscardi says when coupled with the video, this fantastic creature is not so fantastic after all.

“For the first time ever we're catching video, even though it was on infrared film, it actually depicts this thing going from four legs, two in front, and two in back, to standing up right like a man, so my big question is there another species out there that has been undiscovered its very apparent especially down here outside Paris, Texas,”
Biscardi says.

It was an experience that I’m never going to forget, and special thanks go out to Tom Biscardi and the crew for letting us tag along.

If you have seen a creature resembling big foot or would like to join Tom on his next trip through North Texas, you can find more information at this link.

I know bigfoot is real. However, in my opinion Tom Biscardi is one of the biggest hoaxers who ever tromped through the woods. All he does is make honest bigfoot researchers look stupid. Also from what I was told, Biscardi is out to KILL not to capture bigfoot. Yes I have spoke to Biscardi, he tells a good story, he knows how to fill your head with what you want to hear. What he does not know how to do is find bigfoot. If you notice when Biscardi is out in the woods nothing ever happens unless there is media with him and he ALWAYS has to have a news crew with him. MEDIA MEDIA MEDIA...ask him why. His CUDO'S are as fake as he is..so why does anyone listen to what his loser has to say?

I understand that despite all their sightings and experiences, their tranguilizer dart gun has never been out of the box that it came in, while in the field. Now how could they be "No Kill" and never have taken the tranquilizer gun out of the box, in the field? Answer: Perhaps they aren't "No Kill" afterall. They may be just claiming that they are, in order to not get anybody upset. This information is according to persons that have been with them when they brought out their heavy artillery, when a Bigfoot was picked up on the heat sensitive cameras.

In answer to the last comment. We have more than 40 casts from the this Texas area and other photos as well. What was on this story is only what we saw and found on this particular expedition. Check our web site for more information. http://www.searchingforbigfoot.com

I'm from the pacific northwest where bigfoot sightings have been documented for decades and went to college in Eureka CA near where the Patterson video was taken. I am wondering how you can have infrared video of a sasquatch but can't produce any high tech or digital pictures of tracks or markings in that area or at least some "old school" plasters casts of the footprints. The Patterson creature was esimated at about 800# if I remember right. There has to be some tracks near where your video was taken if it were a similar creature.

There are many things in the world for which there is no explanation. Bigfoot is another one of these unexplained things.

Posted by: mb Location: denison on Nov 14, 2007 at 06:22 AM
really, can they not even find a skeleton of their dead? bigfoot must have hidden burial sites or perhaps they cremate their dead. after all, they have been smart enough to outwit the greatest of hunters. perhaps, they are highly educated. would make a great politician, only if we could catch one.

hey pot does not make you see funny things and let me tell you believe if you believe and if you dont why are you on this anyhow everyone has opinions and I do somewhat believe you don't know what is out there and most of you people live in the city anyway so there you go

Posted by: Skeptic Location: Atoka, OK on Nov 11, 2007 at 10:59 PM
As a resident of Atoka, I can say that the rumor-mill cranked out the Caney Big Foot about a year ago .. except the story was a local had made a suit from hides and once his practical joke got the attention of local news hounds and national bigfoot hunters he retired the suit. Maybe he sold it to some ole boy in Paris????

"it's a secret" I think you are on the wrong topic, I have no idea why Channel 12 let you post this on here, you should be posting on the one where the cops are suppose to be slowing these people down on these roads that they are going way to fast on, oh but wait they can't catch them because they out run the cops LOL!!

Bigfoot IS real. I was driving southbound on HWY 75 the other night in the area where you are "supposed" to slow to 60mph in Sherman (I happen to be one of the few who obey the law due to the deaths and accidents on this stretch of highway.) Lo and behold there was Bigfoot right behind me. It was so close to my vehicle's bumper that I could see it in my rear view mirror. I can only describe it as a large, looming, face that appeared like the rear end of an ape with...of all things...a cell phone attached to it's ear. I knew it was a dangerous creature because when I pulled over, it just sped away after it tried to cut me off and cause an accident. Watch out for this creature Bigfoot..."Oh my bad" I meant Lead Foot. For those of you that don't understand Lead is pronounced "led" not "leed" in this story.

Miraculously the infamous Roger Petersen of Douglas AZ was again, the only one on the team to have witnessed seeing Saquatch in Texas. Funny how he had made a medical recovery from being ill all year long and kept quiet, but was able to make it to Texas, and by golly sure enough Tom Biscardi made sure Roger Petersen was the one to witness Bigfoot without a doubt in clear view. With all the candle power Biscardi could muster up I guess it was only enough for Roger Petersen to see the creature, amazing isn't it.I'm sure glad Roger Petersen is back to good health so he can report on more miraculous sightings in AZ by Gillespie Dam and outside Yuma.

i grew up around the lake that big foot is supposed to be around and i have never seen nor heard him. I think the people that live around that area all smoke pot and the hallucinate. There is no big foot and this Tom Biscardi is ignorant for wasting time. Maybe he needs to gather up the neighbors around clay bluff and share some of the good stuff the are smoking and then he will finally see big foot. I hope he doesnt get his heart broke when he finds out whos really making the footprints because i know whos making them and its not big foot.

Pity the newsman who follows Mr. Biscardi into the woods. Tom has no credence in the world of Bigfoot. All he has ever produced is the same old NOTHING He has been discredited by himself on several incidences through the years. He only cares about the money to be made from unscrupulous ventures. I've lived in the texoma area for over 35 years. I believe their is a creature unknown to most out there, I have spent many years searching this possibility but it only takes a few Biscardi's to trash the notion. Are there decent pictures of a creature? No only the debated Patterson Gimlin footage of the 60's. Has this creature been seen without a doubt? Yes by credible, no nonsense, trained people and common citizens. There is no doubt the creature exists. The question is why mess with him or the folklore surrounding it. Science is discovering new species worldwide at a phenomenal rate, why not one more mammal? The evidence is there. But the search is still on, Keep the Faith. Rob

Tracy, these are people that are saying they have seen one, have they got pictures, and I mean they better be pictures that you can actually SEE, who cares if people wrote in about Big Foot, all they want is to be noticed and be on TV, this man that you say is searching for them yea he wasted his money, its nothing but "look at me, look what I found" whatever THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A BIGFOOT

Posted by: Tom Location: Anaheim, CA on Nov 9, 2007 at 10:51 PM
I believe in Bigfoot but Tom Biscardi is the biggest fake of all the people looking for the creature. This guy has produced more bogus information, video and reports about the creature then anyone else. He travels around the country pulling one scam after another and is the worst thing that is happening in the Crypto world. Blah!

You people need to get a life and stop making up stories that are not true, have you ever wonder if there were truly a big foot out there that someone would get a really good picture, the only pictures you see are so blurry you can not make out what it really is, so stop making up stories

Posted by: Bike Mennett Location: McKinney on Nov 9, 2007 at 01:04 PM
You people are crazy!! Get out of there!! Leave "it" alone. Don't make it come any closer!!!

Posted by: Vickie Location: Atoka on Nov 9, 2007 at 11:56 AM
Who knows if there really is a Bigfoot or not. A couple of my sons have pretty big feet with giant monkey toes!! If there really is one, I hope it is never truly captured. It is more fun to wonder and speculate on what is out there. Just think of how much fun it would take out of sitting by a campfire and telling your kids Bigfoot stories! I do agree though that if "researchers" really want to be taken seriously, they are going to have to go to Wal-Mart or Best Buy and get some better equipment. Maybe a good camera phone! They have some with really good and clear images. I wonder also is the Bigfoot families sit around and speculate whether humans really exist.

Posted by: Sass Location: Quach on Nov 9, 2007 at 11:13 AM
I believe they are spiritual creatures that can come and go in our real and spiritual planes. They were believed in by the indians and the indians said bigfoot would enter into our plane for food and such and then exit by becoming invisible to our light spectrum and walk beside you and you would never know it. They have a spiritual existance that is unknown to mankind, much like some of the other mythical creatures of our world. Why do we think we can know everything about a world we have only recently inhabitted. There are many things we do not understand, that does not make them untrue.

Posted by: billy Location: denison on Nov 9, 2007 at 10:10 AM
To all the people that say no such thing well they find new things every day i.e the snow lepord you can walk within feet of it and never know it was ther they are very good at hidding and i do but i do also say i like to go up to atoka and ride atv's and i would be the first to tell you that somthing could live up in them mountans and you would not know it them trees are thick i am not saying i 100% belive untell i see it or a good pic but i tell you what when i am out in the mountans its in the back of my mind and if i did see it i would not stick around to take no pic of it i would run and alls i would have is a story to tell some time things in this world happen and you cant explain it or why and thats just the way it is it could be nothing more than a deformd monkey that has lived in north america for thousands of years so what i dont recall it killing anyone yet so i think the guy can keep looking and maybe just maybe they will get a good pic of this thing untell then i am 50/50

Posted by: S.A. Squatch Location: your imagination on Nov 9, 2007 at 09:46 AM
Okay with modern night vision technology they have the audacity to roll out that fuzzy, impossible to decipher and completely bogus footage? Funny how bigfoot footage is always 1959 video quality. I see night images all the time that are much more clear than that junk they showed. People have this strange desire to want to believe in the unbelievable. There are millions of hunters around the United States that completely scour the woods from coast to coast but for some reason we cannot ever obtain any legitimate evidence. I think they will eventually discover a real sasquatch. He will caught riding a unicorn and pulling a cart with Osama Bin Laden in the back.

I was on that expedition in Paris. I do my own research out here in the Four Corners area of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah. This is the first time I had worked directly with Tom and crew. I came away very impressed with the professionalism and military tactics of the hunt. Tom has a "no kill" stance for the most part, unless someone's life is in danger. That swamp is full of activity, and at one point we realized we were in the presence of more than one creature. I look forward to the second part of the news story, and hope that the camera man captured "Old Whitey". Thank you Paris, and Texas. First of all. Why do these guys wait for dark to go out? Does bigfoot become invisible in daylight? Second. Why do they always have grainey, black & white footage or hard to see night vision? They have all that expensive equipment, but can't find floodlights or modern camera equipment. If they did, I guess all they would get on film would be the guy in the coyote skin outfit that some nut took pictures of last year in Atoka county. I'll be doing alot of hunting in the next few weeks close to Nashoba, (Another bigfoot hotspot). So, if any of you "Believers" out there want to buy me some video equipment to take with me, I'll be glad to video all the creatures I see. Please be sure the equipment is from this decade. I won't need a cattle prod either. Just like all the other folks in those hills, if I did see one, I would be dragging the proof out of the woods. Kinda funny how that hasn't happened yet with all these sightings over the years. Would be cool to have one mounted on my wall.

Posted by: Anonymous Location: Durant on Nov 8, 2007 at 11:58 AM
It would be great to have undoubtable proof, but even if they did capture it, they wouldn't have control of it. The military or someone would come in and take over and run tests. I don't remember any reports of attacks, but it's first reaction would be ESCAPE and someone would get hurt and then they would kill it. "Anything you discover, YOU CHANGE!"

I do believe there is a Bigfoot. However, I don't think it will be caught. Anyone who hunts knows that silence...absolute silence, is a must. Also, like any animal, I'm sure it can smell all the different men. Not to mention hearing all the rumbling of them through the woods with all their equipment. I would LOVE to have proof; but I think it's best left alone.

After watching the story, I'm afraid they're gonna hurt this creature. Observe, study, learn, but don't harm. Hopefully, the cattle prod will only be used if someone is threatened.

some say this is a bunch of crap but my grandmother lives in caney ok and let me tell you at night when the dogs bark and they will not stop barking she wonders if it is there because she lives deep in the woods and now at night when we go up there we dont dare let the kids play out there even if they do have spot lights

If they found Bigfoot, don't you think the headline of this story would be, "Bigfoot found! Film at 11!"

"It was refreshing to see an honest look at a research expedition without a token skeptic" And it's also great to see honest research on homeopathic medicine without any pesky medical doctors around to point out the facts. And hey, it's great to have honest research on the benefits of trans fats without those spoilsport nutritionists ruining the fun. Oh, how nice it is to conduct honest research on how much our lives are affected by astrological star signs without a token real scientist around to show that the positions of the planets have absolutely nothing to do with life on Earth. There is no good evidence of Bigfoot, and having a one-sided, true-believer expedition is not going to turn up anything except coincidental natural phenomena that is warped to fit their rigid thinking. With the exception of a creature, they'll find exactly what they're looking for, because that's exactly what they're looking for. Make the evidence fit the presupposition. Fools.

Very good treatment of such a polarizing subject. Even those who investigate these creatures-- TB included-- draw a significant share of criticism and controversy. Yes, for some it will require that somebody secures a specimen-- dead or alive-- before believing these creatures exist. Kudos to Daniel Gotera for his journalistic integrity and in-the-field approach to this issue. Documented physical evidence of these creatures is quite difficult and whatever audio, photo, film or video that has been obtained is subject to interpretion and debate. I'm looking forward to seeing the second part of this video report and learning what new evidence has been documented.

I must admit that bringing back proof of the existence of the creature is exciting. At the same, I strongly feel we should leave it alone. It obviously has survived despite us for the longest time, so we should not try to alter this state of things. We, humans, are the most destructive species that ever existed on this planet.I fear that once we have proof positive that the creature exists, the hunt for more specimens will be on, and we will drive them into extinction. LEAVE IT ALONE!

I really enjoyed the first half of the two part-series, and I am eagerly awaiting the second half. It was refreshing to see an honest look at a research expedition without a token skeptic - or even worse, an uninformed token skeptic - being introduced to undermine the efforts of hard working researchers. There is a mountain of evidence supporting the existence of these creatures. The researchers in your story appear to be no kill, and I support what they are doing. No one should have to kill one of these creatures to get main stream to accept the overwhelming evidence of their existence.
