OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Heavy fighting in Iraq has claimed the life
of an Oklahoma City man and another soldier.
The Department of Defense says 23-year-old Army Sergeant Carl
W Lee was killed Sunday in Ar Ramadi, Iraq. Defense officials say Lee's unit was conducting a dismounted patrol when it encountered enemy forces using small arms fire.
Lee and 25-year-old Staff Sergeant Michael -B- Shackelford of
Grand Junction, Colorado, were assigned to the First Battalion,
503rd Infantry Regiment, Second Brigade Combat Team, Second
Infantry Division out of Camp Howze, Korea.
Two more members of the unit were killed in the area on Friday.
Another Oklahoman was killed in Iraq on Friday.
Nineteen-year-old Marine Lance Corporal Jordan D Winkler died
while stationed at a hospital near Camp Fallujah.
