Teen Sentenced for Rape

10-22-04 - A teenager accused of raping an elderly woman in Sherman pleaded guilty in a Grayson County courtroom Friday. Ronnie Salinas was 17 when he broke into a 75-year-old woman’s home and sexually assaulted her, and sexually assaulted her in March of 2004.

A judge sentenced Salinas to 40 years in prison.

In court, Salinas says he didn’t know why he committed the crimes. Family and friends cried when his sentence was read.

A statement from the victim was also read in court. It described the attack in detail. The victim expressed her grief over the incident.

Grayson County District Attorney Joe Brown says Salinas will serve most of his sentence.
