Scattered showers and storms could become strong to severe this afternoon into the evening. Primary threats are large hail and heavy rainfall causing flooding in poor drainage areas. Damaging winds are included as well and an isolated tornado possibility is very low but not eliminated.
CAPITOL HILL (AP) - The Senate approved the bill that reorganizes the nation's intelligence operations. By a vote of 89-2, the bill will bring about the biggest change in US intelligence gathering and analysis since the CIA was created after World War Two.
It replaces the nation's Cold War-era intelligence network with a 21st century structure that requires military and civilian spy agencies to work together to combat terrorism.
Some lawmakers said Americans shouldn't be fooled into thinking
they will be safe once this legislation is completed. Senator Robert Byrd stressed that "no legislation alone can forestall a terrorist attack."
