12-09-04 – The city of Bells was without water since 4:30 pm Wednesday until early Thursday morning. The city did not realize there was a problem until they began to get phone calls from citizens.
Crews began working on the problem Wednesday afternoon and discovered a broken pipe around midnight. They were able to restore water to most of the city shortly after discovering the break. Only a few houses and schools north of the pipe are still without water. The city expects to have the problem completely solved by later Thursday.
Authorities believe the pipe’s age and last year’s construction on the highway above it played a part in it breaking.
