12-9-04 - Local stores are having success using security cameras to catch crooks in the act.

9 out of 10 convenience stores in Ardmore have surveillance cameras and two crimes in the past two weeks have been caught on tape. That evidence is already helping lead police to the criminals.

The camera at Lasley’s One Stop caught a man in a hooded sweatshirt running out the door with a case of beer in his hands on Tuesday.

In another case, a man breaking into a store office was captured on video as he left with a bank bag full of money. Two days later he showed up on another store's surveillance tape committing the same crime.

Police are still investigating both thefts, but have yet to make an arrest.
