10-30-04- Bryan County voters will decide whether liquor can be sold by restaurants or clubs when they go to the polls on Tuesday. This comes twenty years after Oklahomans gave counties the option to sell liquor by the drink.

If the proposal is approved, Bryan County will become the 42nd county in Oklahoma to authorize liquor by the drink since voters statewide authorized in 1984.

The ballot issue is running into opposition in the county, where liquor by the drink has been rejected once before.

The county narrowly voted against it in 1985.

Opponents say their views are based on religious principles and public safety issues.

Darel Bunch, pastor of Durant's Calvary Baptist Church says someone who drinks one drink at dinner could wreck their vehicle and harm someone.
