Chase Ends With Motorcycle Crash

11-6-04- A chase through Carter County ended Saturday evening when the suspect crashed his motorcycle on Lake Murray Drive near Highway 70 after a two mile, high-speed chase.

The chase started just after 5:00 p.m when a Park Ranger on his way to another accident came up behind a yellow, Suzuki motorcycle. The driver, 34 year old Gregory Gilbert of Marietta, took off when he thought the Ranger was chasing him.

The chase only lasted two miles, but reached speeds up to 80 miles per hour, before Gilbert crashed and landed in some brush. He was medi-flighted to and Oklahoma City hospital with serious injuries. He faces charges of reckless driving and attemptiong to elude a police officer.

No one else was injured in the accident.
