Funeral Set for Civilian Killed in Iraq

11-17-04 - A Denison man, killed in Iraq, will be laid to rest on Saturday. Mike Tatar was working as a civilian when was shot and killed last Friday morning. Tatar, a former Grayson County law officer, was in Iraq training police officers when he was killed by friendly fire.

Tatar was well known in Grayson County. He owned Wayne's Shoe Repair and had worked at the Grayson County Sheriff's Office for 9 years before taking a position with the Texas Department of Corrections in Bonham.

The funeral is scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday morning at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Denison.

Rosary and family night will be held Friday night at 6 p.m. at the same church.
