OKLAHOMA CITY -- A man charged with murder in Ardmore is now charged with assaulting an Oklahoma City police officer who was guarding him in an Oklahoma City hospital.
Darrell Lynn Madden was being guarded in the medical facility after he was wounded trying to allude police the night he allegedly shot and killed Bradley Qualls at the Hunnington Falls Apartments in Ardmore.
Madden was charged Monday with assaulting an Oklahoma City police officer who was guarding him at OU Medical Center.
Officials say the assault happened when Madden started yelling at the officer because madden wanted his leg restrains removed.
When officers refused authorities say Madden threw a remote control, a bottle of urine, and a bowl of hot soup at the officer.
"He was at the OU Medical Center when we were guarding him. That’s where this incident occurred," Oklahoma City PD Sgt. Gary Knight said.
Madden is charged with murder in the death of Bradley Qualls of Ardmore and is being investigated in another murder in Oklahoma City.
Madden’s initial hearing was postponed Monday because of complications from the gun shot wound to his arm. District Attorney Craig Ladd said a new date has not been set.
