11-18-04 – Crews were still working Thursday morning to clean up a fuel leak in Sherman. Wednesday morning, more than 275 gallons of gasoline began to leak from a Texaco gas pump in the 2000 block of Texoma Parkway.
The Environmental Protection Agency was called to the scene and Sherman firefighters evacuated 6 businesses over concerns that the gasoline fumes would ignite.
Traffic on Texoma Parkway between Peyton and Taylor was shut down for just under four hours.
Authorities say a private company was pressure testing the tank for leaks Wednesday morning - a process that could have created the fuel spill.
Haz-mat crews continue to clean up what is left of the spill Thursday.
Fire officials have decided to embark on a major project. Crews will pull up the concrete at the gas station and remove damaged gas lines and tank.
