Video will be available shortly.

11-22-04 - An escapee from the Mack Alford Correctional Facility in Stringtown is back in custody after more than 24 hours on the run. 31year old James Stewart was captured in Seymour, Texas just after 9 p.m. Sunday evening.

An officer spotted Stewart in an Atoka City vehicle. Authorities say Stewart did not resist arrest and was taken to the Baylor County Jail.

A warden’s assistant with the Mack Alford Correctional Facility told First News Stewart will be extradited within two days.

Stewart is serving time for unlawful possession of a firearm inside a penal facility in Comanche County.

He escaped from the Stringtown facility sometime between 10:15 and 11:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

According to the Oklahoma Department of Corrections website, this is not Stewart's first escape. He escaped from a state penitentiary in Payne County in 1995.
