Two upper level waves will interact with a warm and very moist air mass to generate thunderstorms through Saturday. Lightning and torrential rainfall that could cause flash flooding are the primary threats...with a secondary threat of damaging winds. Turn around, don't drown!
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Health officials in Texas say they've had 122 reports of people being sickened in a cyclospora outbreak that spans 15 states so far.
Christine Mann is a spokeswoman for the Texas Department of State Health Services. She says the agency has not yet linked the outbreak to prepackaged salad mix, as officials in Iowa and Nebraska have done.
Cyclospora is a rare parasite that causes a lengthy gastrointestinal illness. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report 372 cases of the infection nationwide.
At least 21 people have been hospitalized and most of the reported illnesses occurred from mid-June to mid-July.
