Senate Bill Could Ban Indian Mascots

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A state senator from Tulsa wants to prohibit schools from using Indian names as mascots or team names.

Senator Judy Eason McIntyre says team nicknames such as Savages,
Redskins, Indians, Braves or Chiefs are derogatory and harmful to
Indians.

Her bill calls for a $500 per day fine on any school violating the ban.
