2-13-05- A woman who escaped from the Bryan County Jail around midnight Saturday, was back behind bars Sunday after less than 24 hours on the run. Authorities found Jacklyn Ladonna Thomas at the Texoma Inn in Denison.
Authorities say a jailer violated policy by allowing a group of inmates to smoke outside after hours. That is when Thomas got on a bike and rode to a convenience store, where she was picked up by the last person she contacted from the jail.
A tip led police to the Texoma Inn around 1:00p.m Sunday where they found Thomas in one of the hotel rooms. They report that she had dyed her hair and changed clothes and originally denied she was the person they were looking for. Police were able to positively identify her by a tattoo on her leg.
Thomas was in jail on larceny charges and several outstanding warrants. She was scheduled to be released soon, but now faces several additional charges.
Thomas is in the Grayson County Jail awaiting extradition back to Bryan County. It is unknown if the jailer will see disciplinary action.
