02-14-05 – CPS has taken an 11-month-old girl from her mother after the infant’s second trip to the emergency room in 12 days. The girl currently is in the ICU at Dallas Children’s Hospital with serious brain injuries.
On a January 22nd visit to the ER, doctors reported several bruises on the girl’s head. Then, on another hospital visit on February 3rd, the girl had fresh bruises and two broken ribs, prompting police and CPS to step in.
CPS was given temporary custody of the child while Sherman police conducted an investigation. Right now, the girl has been left in the care of the mother’s boyfriend.
The mother and her boyfriend are suspects for possible abuse, but charges have yet to be filed.
