Rancher Finds Missing Pilot, Plane

2-15-05 - YEAGER, Okla. (AP) The wreckage of a small plane and a body believed to be that of a missing Muskogee doctor has been found in a field in Hughes County.

The plane and body believed to be that of Doctor Jack Nolen were found by a rancher, a month after Nolen disappeared after leaving an airport in Paris, Texas.

The plane was heading to Shawnee, Oklahoma.

The crashed Kitfox Lite Squared airplane was found about four miles north of Holdenville Monday.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman John Clabes says officials identified the crashed plane as the missing plane by matching the tailfin number.

Search crews with the Oklahoma Civil Air Patrol had searched wooded areas of Hughes County and neighboring Pittsburg County after Doctor Jack Nolen's plane was reported missing on January 14th, but called off the search nine days later.

The 73-year-old Muskogee doctor was last seen leaving the Paris, Texas, airport. He was the only person on the small, single-engine, two-seat airplane.
