SHERMAN, TX -- This week's 12 Who Care nominee has made volunteering her full-time job. She serves several communities across Texoma in various ways. We introduce you to a woman who has been passionate about giving back to others for more than four decades.

Every Friday Nancy Anderson stocks shelves and works to sell items at the Woman's Gift Exchange, a gift shop she helped start, located inside Kelly Square in downtown Sherman. Its run solely by volunteers and all the profits go to hundreds of area charities.

"She's a very very busy woman. She's a 5 foot, petite package full of dynamite," Kelly Ashmore, who nominted Anderson, said.

Volunteering at the boutique is just one way Anderson gives back to the community.

"She serves on the Grayson County College Foundation Board. She was key to the 2010 Crisis Center Shopping project, and works with Texoma health foundations volunteer committee, and the Reba Ranch House volunteer committee," Ashmore said.

The list does not stop there. She has also served on the Preston Volunteer Emergency Services Board where she helped paramedics go from volunteer to full-time, paid employees.

Friends say it is not just the list of things she has done, or how she has impacted people's lives that is impressive. It is her ongoing desire to give back.

"She doesn't look for the recognition, and when you know it's coming from the heart you know it's very genuine, and that's who Nancy is. She's a genuine, wonderful lady," Ashmore said.

Kelly Ashmore says Anderson's passion for volunteering is contagious and that is why she is a perfect candidate.

If you ask Anderson why she spends so much of her time giving back she will tell you the reward is worth every second.

"I've been a very lucky person so why wouldn't I want to give back? You know, I've just had a great life, and it's fun to give back. I've met more people through organizations and have lots of really good friend, and it's just very satisfying," Anderson said.

This is why Nancy Anderson is a one of our 12 who care.
