No Plea Deal for Trucker

Video will be available shortly.

1-27-05 – A plea offer is no longer on the table for the semi-truck driver charged with manslaughter in the deaths of ten people on US 75 in Sherman.

Grayson County Attorney Joe Brown introduced a plea offer earlier this month. It would have given Jozwiak ten years in prison for the ten lives lost.

The victim’s families opposed the plea offer and an attorney for one of the families told First News they are pleased the case will now go before a jury.

Jozwiak, who is still in the Grayson County jail, pled not guilty to ten counts of manslaughter after September’s fiery wreck that killed ten people including five members of a Mc Kinney family.

A grand jury indicted the truck driver last year when lab results showed the trucker had prescription medications in his system at the time of the accident.

Jozwiak is held on two million dollars bond. An appeals court has denied his request for a bond reduction.
