Sherman PD Nets Drugs, Cash in Raid

3-18-05 - On Thursday night Sherman Police Narcotics went to a residence in the 1700 block of W. FM 1417 to serve a felony arrest warrant. Once at the house officers met with a female resident at the door and asked for the wanted person. The woman told officers he wasn’t home. Officers heard someone running though the house and smelled a strong odor of burning Mariijuana coming from inside the house.

Officers entered the residence and found the wanted person hiding under a bed in a back bedroom. The 37-year-old Sherman man was taken into custody. Officers saw a small amount of marijuana in a baggie on the kitchen table. The 35 year old woman who initially answered the door was arrested. A 35 year old male from Denison and a 10 year old child were also at the home.

Officers obtained consent to search the residence from the man they were there to arrest.

Approx ¼ pound of crystal meth, over 4 pounds of marijuana, an assortment of prescription medications, digital scales and packaging material, as well as $895 in cash were recovered from inside the residence.

The 35 year old female was arrested for the drugs. Officers anticipate additional arrests in connection with this investigation..

Sherman narcotics will pursue civil forfeiture of the seized cash.
