3-23-05 - This Easter Sunday could mark the largest Christian service Texoma has seen in years. The Trail of Tears at the Choctaw Coliseum could draw up to 9,000 people – a service that sponsors say will be like no other.
Victory Life pastor Duane Sheriff says his sermon will not only brings the Indian and American cultures together, but also explore the pain and suffering that everyone goes through.
The service will be the inaugural event in the Choctaw Coliseum, which sits next door to the tribe’s casino. Sheriff says he knows the association will offend some people, but he’s confident that the risk will be worth it to bring the message to the masses.
The event will include video clips and a tribute to soldiers fighting in the war against terrorism as well as music by Christian performer Al Denson.
The service starts at ten on Sunday morning.
