3-28-05 – PINELLAS PARK, Fla. (AP) For the first time since Terri Schiavo's feeding tube was pulled; her mother did not visit Sunday.
A family spokesman says it makes Mary Schindler "physically ill" to go into her brain-damaged daughter's hospice room in Pinellas Park, Florida.
Schiavo has been given communion and last rites. The single drop of communion wine is the only sustenance she's had since the tube was removed March 18th.
Her parents have given up legal challenges and appear quietly resigned to watching her die. But they're disputing a claim by their lawyer that she's beyond the point of recovery.
Meantime, supporters continue rallying outside her hospice. Five of them were arrested Sunday. And at husband Michael Schiavo's home in Clearwater, Florida, about three dozen protesters dropped roses and Easter lilies on his lawn in a peaceful demonstration.
They say they'll be in Washington, demanding that Congress step in.
