3-30-05 – The city of Durant is planning on closing two railroad crossings, a move that is not sitting well with business owners. O-Dot is giving the city $1.2 million for repairs on six railroad crossings, but requires that two be shut down.
The city has suggested the 2nd and 4th street crossings be permanently closed, but business owners say that will hurt customer traffic. They have started a petition asking the city to re-think the closings.
A public hearing will be held on April 12th to discuss the impact.
