4-1-05 – In what is becoming a growing problem in Oklahoma, the city of Healdton is looking for an unregistered sex offender. Sex offenders are required to re-register with the state every time they move, but sometimes find ways around it.
In Healdton, police were alerted about a sex offender living next door to the caller. When they went to arrest him, he was gone. Police are not releasing the man’s name.
The state says sex offenders can jump from one small town to another without authorities ever knowing they are there.
The state is considering a program where one officer would be devoted to sex offenders at every PD.
