Overturned semi backs up traffic on Hwy 75

SHERMAN, TX -- A semi that turned over backed up traffic on Highway 75 in Sherman for several hours today.

Police say the driver of the 18-wheeler told them he fell asleep and left the roadway. When he woke up he over corrected and the truck turned over destroying about 150 feet of guardrail near the Park Lane exit.

The northbound side of 75 was blocked and traffic was diverted off the highway.

"I believe that a passerby saw the debris from the guardrail and thought that there may have been a car underneath the 18-wheeler but their wasn't. As a matter of fact no one was injured in the crash at all," Sergeant Stephen Dean with Sherman Police said.

Officers say the highway is back open.
