Two upper level waves will interact with a warm and very moist air mass to generate thunderstorms through Saturday. Lightning and torrential rainfall that could cause flash flooding are the primary threats...with a secondary threat of damaging winds. Turn around, don't drown!
4-25-05 – While vaccinations are considered routine for most parents of small children, local officials say there are still some who do not have their babies immunized.
During National Infant Immunization Week, local health departments are spreading the word about low cost vaccinations. According to the Centers for Disease Control, about 20% of two year olds in the U.S. are not vaccinated.
Diseases such as measles, polio and whooping cough are rare, but for unvaccinated babies; the consequences can be deadly.
“There are some children who, for medical reasons, cannot be vaccinated and in order to protect them, the best protection is vaccination for anyone who comes in contact with them,” said Dr. Carolyn Fruthhaler of the Grayson County Health Department.
Experts recommend parents make sure all of their children’s vaccines are up-to-date during National Immunization Week.
