ACHILLE, Okla. -- Two people are in the hospital after a carbon monoxide leak in their home. It happened in Achille just before nine o’clock Friday morning.

Authorities say a woman and her daughter were feeling nauseous when they called the Achille Police Department. When officers arrived on the scene, they brought the victims out of their home at the corner of Elm and Highway 78.

Workers with the Oklahoma Natural Gas Company detected a large amount of carbon monoxide in the home and shut off the leak.

The mother and daughter were transported to Texoma Medical Center in Denison.

Carbon monoxide does not "leak" into a home except perhaps from a car. It is generally created inside the home by incomplete combustion, usually of natural gas, in a faulty furnace, water heater, or stove. The gas company workers shut off the gas supply, not the "leak".
