Durant woman killed in crash

DURANT, OK - An accident early Friday morning outside Durant claimed the life of a 19-year-old woman.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says around 2 a.m. a pickup was northbound on a county road 1 mile east of Durant when the driver, 23-year-old William E. Garner, lost control on loose gravel, ran off the roadway and struck a tree. One of the passengers, 19-year-old Cleo Deanna Daniel of Durant, was pronounced dead at the scene. Garner and passenger, Jonathan Drew Mitchell of Idabel, were transported to the Medical Center of Southeast Oklahoma. Another passenger, Jessica L. Hendrix of Oklahoma City, was transported by air ambulance to Plano Medical Center, where she is listed in serious condition.

Troopers say no one in the vehicle was wearing a seat belt, and alcohol was possibly involved.
