5-15-05- Todd and Lisa Short say their daughter Candice was a survivor, recently recovering from a paralyzing horseback riding accident. But Friday night, she was killed on a narrow road near Bells when a teenage driver hit her head on.
Her parents say 23 year old Candice was a nurse at a doctor's office in Sherman. She was on her way home from her 7 year old son's baseball game when she was killed.
Ross survived a paralyzing accident on a horse last year, just recently learning to walk again. Her father describes her as "tougher than leather." Her mother says she was a caring wife, mother, and nurse. They say its not right for a parent to have to bury their child.
The Denison teenager who crashed into Ross could be charged criminally negligent homicide.
Funeral services for Candice Ross will be held Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. at the Cherry Mound Cemetery just outside of Denison.
