GRAYSON COUNTY, TX - A Gunter man accused of sexually assaulting a seven-year-old girl has been indicted for the crime.
Abraham Betancourt, 27, was arrested for indecency with a child in January after a relative witnessed him touching the girl inappropriately. Gunter Police say Betancourt also faces additional charges of tampering with a government document.
"Its' the type of thing we hate to see, but unfortunately it happens. There are sick people in this world, and when it does we have two goals - to put the guy in jail so the family has security, the other is that we can get the victim into therapy so she can begin the healing process," Gunter Police Chief Bryce Kennedy says.
Betancourt remains in the Grayson County Jail. He is expected in court later this month.
