Local man dies in Sherman accident

SHERMAN, TX -- A man was killed and a woman is in serious condition after a two vehicle accident in Sherman late Friday night.

Sherman Police say passenger 54-year-old Jimmy Keith Haliburton, of Sherman, and driver 30-year-old Amber Armstrong were going east on Lamberth Street when they were struck by a pickup heading north on 1417.

Witnesses say Armstrong ran a red light. Officials say the accident happed around 11:20 p.m. Haliburton was pronounced dead at the scene.

Armstrong was taken by air ambulance to a Plano hospital. The driver of the truck was taken to a local hospital with minor injures.

Police say the accident is still under investigation.
