6-20-05 - Ardmore residents will soon have to pay more for their water. Ardmore City Commissioners approved a water rate increase for the second time in a year on Monday night.
Last June they increased water bills to help pay for the new water and waste water treatment facilities. But residents haven't been using as much water which means less profits for the city. That's why the water department asked for the latest hike. It will raise residential rates for water by 7% and by 8% for sewer.
The city will also charge a$5 flat rate surcharge fee for each residential utility used. The increases will only last three years, but the flat rate could stay on the bill for twenty years.
