06-09-05 – The fire that destroyed a Sherman Dollar General is also forcing nearby residents out of their homes. Dana Thurston and his family are unable to stay at their house on Dewey Street after it was declared a hazard area.
The house sits just a few feet from the store and is in danger since the rear wall could collapse at any time. The intense heat also did $9,000 worth of damage.
Thurston and family are staying in motels and with family members until they can find a new home.
