Two upper level waves will interact with a warm and very moist air mass to generate thunderstorms through Saturday. Lightning and torrential rainfall that could cause flash flooding are the primary threats...with a secondary threat of damaging winds. Turn around, don't drown!
6-10-05- After escaping from the Choctaw County Jail last night, Jonathan Earl Johnson has been taken back into custody. A caller informed authorities they saw a suspicious man walking along railroad tracks three miles north of Hugo on Old Airport Road. Law enforcement investigated, and apprehended Johnson without incident around 6:45 pm Friday evening.
He is now back in the Choctaw County Jail and will likely be charged with assault with intent to kill.
Authorities say Johnson threw scalding water and severely beat a male jailer. The victim was taken by medical helicopter to a Tulsa hospital. Another female jailer was injured in the attack, but she has been treated and released from a local hospital.
Johnson was being held on murder charges filed in Pushmataha County. He is one of four men accused of beating a 55-year-old apartment manager to death with a bat in Antlers. William Varner was killed during a robbery February 9th.
