7-3-05 - A new puchase is helping one local volunteer fire department make the waters on Lake Texoma a little safer, just in time for one of the busiest holidays on the lake.
The Cartwright Fire Department bought a new fire and rescue boat with the help of community donations. The boat is the only one of it's kind on Lake Texoma and the fire chief says it speeds up rescue response time. Before getting the boat, the department was forced to rely on the OHP rescue boats to help someone in need.
So far this holiday weekend, Cartwright rescuers have not had any major emergencies.
