FANNIN CO., TX -- Challenging yourself to exercise on a daily basis can seem daunting. For one group of young men, they've taken the challenge a step farther. They are literally running cross country. Stephanie Brletic met them on the road and talked to them about their trip.

Seeing a few clean-cut guys like this running through your neighborhood may not seem unusual. It's more than just a jog around the block; these 23-year-old men are running across the US.

"It's just been our dream for the last 3 years, everyday just talking about it, and planning it and it's become a reality," says Matthew Durkin, one of the runners.

The journey for Matthew, Ken and Andy started in February, but the dream started over three years ago. The then-college students hatched their plan.

So why are these guys making hitting America's pavement?

They say, why not?

"The core of this run is just the adventure, just to see the country and make it from coast to coast on our own two feet."

About 45 days ago the New Yorkers set off in Georgia, opting for a warm route. They push these baby strollers, with a tent and supplies, for a trek that started off a little rocky.

"We had a lot of aches and pains, we had to run through a lot of hard, hard days, but the worst is behind us now and we're all feeling great."

Safety is also a concern, whether it's a loose dog or a careless driver.
They say the nice folks outnumber the dangerous. Some nice people have opened their homes to these guys, even doing their laundry.

"It's more about other people, the generosity of other people, and seeing how other people live, um, just experiencing the entire country from one end to the other."

Sometime in May the friends will reach their goal when they run into San Diego. Until then, they are running from sea to shining sea, 25 miles at a time.
