7-10-05 - An Ardmore nursing home is closing its doors this week after taking care of the clderly for almost forty years. Ardmore Convalescent Home was forced to close their doors last week after they failed to reach an agreement with the landlord of the building regarding late payment.
28 elderly patients had to be relocated. One resident had lived in the home since 1966. Administrators say resident were upset about the move at first, but now they like their new homes. The elderly group was split between Lakeland manor and Whispering Oaks Nursing homes.
CEO Gary Porter also operates the two nursing homes where the patients were taken. He says they don't rent, but own the other two buildings.
The convalescent home may be torn down to make room for more parking at Mercy Memorial Hospital.
