MCCURTAIN COUNTY, OK -- A 17-hour armed standoff in McCurtain County ended peacefully this afternoon.

The McCurtain County Gazette reports a 68-year old man called the sheriff's office around eight last night saying he kidnapped and buried two girls alive.

When deputies got to the house, the man barricaded inside the house with a shotgun and reportedly said he'd kill any officer who came into his home.

Deputies maintained contact with the man until 3 a.m., but he turned off his phone and wouldn’t answer officers through the door. Just after one this afternoon, the man walked out and surrendered.

Officers did not find anyone else inside the home and are still searching the surrounding area.
