LANE, OK - Same story, different day. Gas prices are rising and it seems there may not be any end to it. Gas in Texoma has jumped another couple cents from $3.24 to about $3.29 on average. And it’s the same thing across the county.

Diesel is closer than it’s ever been to four dollars a gallon and sources say gas could near the four dollar mark by summertime.

Some truckers did strike last week, in response to the cost of diesel. But, they say like most drivers, they have no choice but to pay up. If you live in Lane, Oklahoma, high prices or not, two stations didn't even have the gas to sell earlier today.

Customers had to drive at least 10 miles to Atoka, just to get fuel. Mystic Matthews has more.

One of those stations is back up and running, but the other still has an issue and no answer yet.

It wasn't because business owner Mark Finch couldn't pay for gas at Mr. G's, "Thought I could make it until Tuesday, didn't happen. We sold more gas than anticipated. We were just late on getting the order in and getting it here."

However customers like Clyde Carroll say it’s a different story less than a mile down the road at Lane Handy Mart. Mom and pop stores operate on credit and they didn't pay for last gas, how they going to going to get another tank."

An employee said the Handy Mart's owner has been in the hospital and doesn't know when -- or if -- they will be able to get another shipment of fuel.

“It’s all just going up, until we put a stop to it where people can do something. We've got to do something about it. Cause nobody else will.”

Lynch says even with gas prices the way they are, people are still buying. “Everybody has to get to work, so they have to buy the gas to get them there."

They just aren't coming inside. “It slows down inside sales because people have to spend money on gas because of higher prices.

Either way, customers say they can't stop paying for gas if they want to work, but Carroll says something has to be done and soon. “Maybe if prices were a little lower, everybody could afford to compete, but the higher the prices, the less competition. And the person who's got the money is going to win."

Lynch says he just spent money putting in new storage tanks and pumps, so he can't afford to stop selling gas anytime soon. As for Lane's Handy Mart, who's owner we couldn't reach today, only time will tell.

At least the anonymous poster here has a lick of sense, unlike Gary from Tom Bean. Gary, the oil companies have the lowest profit margin of any industry. Stop blaming places that have no control over it. Blame your senators, and government that refuse to let the US drill our own oil, and force us to stay captives of OPEC. You can also blame futures investors for driving the price of a barrel of oil to nearly $110/barrel. The oil/gas companies have NO control over the price of oil. Stop following the Democrats talking points of the big bad oil companies. Without them, this country would be screwed. They provide a service we want, and need. They get paid to do that. They make big profits because all these people buying gas at record levels. You should be asking when will the American people stand up to the Democrats beholden to the environmentalist nut jobs in this country that put nature over our well being.

Do you think they will ever make it okay to drive golf carts to the stores, etc. as long as they do not get on the major highways. Some small towns in Calif. do that.

It all boils down to bad gas!

Anonymous-We don't have to buy Coca Cola, we do have to buy gas.

I hear so many people say "we have to do something" about the price of gas.....I just don't hear anyone say what we can do. I'm sure most of us are open for options? Who can we get to tell us what to do?

Gary, oil companies make a profit of about 25¢ per gallon sold... which is not a huge amount. They profited $123 billion last year, but they also sold over 30 billion barrels of oil! High sales volume means high profits! Coca-Cola has higher profits per dollar than the oil companies and it costs more per gallon than gas, so why not gripe about that?

It's a sad situation that doesn't even need to be like this. Besides buying gas for our own car we are buying all the guys that sit on their butts in the White House gas too. Great move Govt. And what's this I hear? The Iraqis are paying $1.39gal while our military is paying 3.00 plus a gal. Makes a lot of sense eh? All going to the Fat Cats pocket.

What I don't get is how these presidential candidates keep bringing in the millions of dollars and the little guy is barely making it?

When is the American people going to stand up and say enough is enough? these stories keep coming up and no one has the guts to stand up an do something. We are all going to have to pull together and do something. The oil companies making mega profits says to me that is just plain and simple price gouging, they are probably in with opec with the oil prices too. Its all a scam people and it started when you know who got elected into the White House.
