8-4-05 – The Texas Tax Free Weekend is here and as always, it brings a large contingent of sooners over the Red River to take advantage. Several Oklahoma stores and cities are holding their own special weekend to keep shoppers in the state.
Texas stores have been advertising in Oklahoma newspapers to attract business. But the city of Durant has run a campaign asking residents to stay in town and spend the dollars in their own community.
Not all items will be tax exempt this weekend. Most clothing and shoes will be exempt, but backpacks, school supplies and furniture are not. Items over $100 will also still be taxed.
