2-Car Accident Sends 3 to Hospital

10-14-05 - A major two-car accident in Sherman late Wednesday night at the intersection of Texoma Parkway and Woodlake Road sent three people to the hospital.

Witnesses told police that around 11 pm an F-250 ran the red light heading north on Texoma Parkway, colliding with the Chevy Silverado. According to several witnesses, the F250 pickup was driving north on Texoma Parkway at what was described as “a high rate of speed”.

Justin McKenzie, a 21-year-old from Denison, and Chad Ward, an 18-year-old from Denison, were in the Silverado. Ward was ejected from the vehicle and the driver was partially ejected.

The driver of the Ford F-250 was a 35-year-old male from Whitesboro. He was partially trapped under his vehicle.

When Sherman fire crews arrived they transported McKenzie and the driver of the Ford F-250 to Wilson N Jones hospital. Ward was transported to TMC hospital in Denison. Both McKenzie and Ward sustained what was described by medical staff as critical injuries.

After being stabilized at TMC hospital, Ward was flown to Methodist hospital in Dallas due to his critical injuries. McKenzie remains at Wilson N Jones hospital and is believed to be in stable condition. The driver of the Ford F-250 pickup remains in the hospital and is also said to be in stable condition.

The name of the Ford F-250 driver is not being released at this time. The preliminary investigation suggests that speed may be a factor and the driver of the Ford F-250 may face criminal charges.
