8-22-05 - Sherman voters will make a $77 million decision next month. The Sherman ISD is proposing their largest school bond ever to build two new elementary schools and make additions and renovations to every other campus in the district.
The bulk of the bond-- $26 million-- will be spent on building two new elementary schools. $10 million will spent on renovations and additions at Sherman High School.
Administrators say the district is overcrowded and 1 out of every 6 students is going to class in a temporary classroom. They say enrollment has been steadily increasing for several years and projections indicate this growth will continue.
Early voting begins August 24th and the election is set for Saturday, September 10th.
