9-5-05 - Officials at the Falls Creek church camp near Davis say as many as 3,000 evacuees WON'T be arriving today.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol Lieutenant Stewart Meyer says he was
informed Monday afternoon that the evacuees were delayed in Texas.
Meyer said he was unsure when they would arrive.
Nestled in the Arbuckle Mountains near Davis, the 360-acre camp
is owned and operated by the Southern Baptist Convention of
Swaying willow and mimosa trees provide shade and the scenery
includes natural waterfalls and a creek that runs through one edge
of the camp.
On Monday, a 6,000 seat outdoor amphitheater was packed
with men's, women's and children's clothes. Hundreds of pairs of
shoes lined the bleachers.
