Man Arrested for Shooting at Children

10-28-05 - An 88 year old Wapanucka man is facing serious charges after police say he shot in the direction of two young girls playing outside. The elderly man says the incident is a misunderstanding and he was only trying to scare the girls.

Jack Mobley is charged with two felonies, including shooting with intent and feloniously pointing a weapon. Police say Mobley shot at two young girls who were playing dolls in the street in their neighborhoood. Police say the bullet missed the children but grazed one of their baby doll strollers. Mobley says the girls threw rocks at him and he shot his pistol at the ground to scare them.

Police say Mobley should never have fired the weapon. Neighbors say Mobley should be punished, but do not believe he should go to jail. Mobley will surrended to authorities Monday morning.
