PONTOTOC COUNTY, Okla. -- An escapee from the Pontotoc County Jail described as armed and dangerous is still running from the law, but authorities say they have several promising leads.
U.S. Marshals are helping in the search for 33-year-old Mitchell Hoyt Shults. Authorities say he was visiting with an attorney Wednesday and when the on-duty jailer turned his attention to supervising dinner, Shults took off.
Investigators say Shults was awaiting trial on several charges including arson and grand larceny. In fact, he was involved in setting a mattress on fire in the Pontotoc County Jail last week.
After his escape last night he reportedly stole a 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle from a local dealership, so now he will face even more criminal charges.
Shults was last seen wearing gray sweat pants and a dark-colored jacket. If you have any information, call authorities.
The Undersherrif also says Shults should be considered armed and dangerous.
