Lone Grove, OK -- It looks like a fired Lone Grove police officer will not resume her position on the force.

Monday night, the Lone Grove Personnel Board unanimously upheld the termination of former officer Kristy BUchanan.

Buchanan's attorney appeared before a special meeting of the board, asking that body to reconsider Buchanan's termination.

Buchanan was fired after her husband was found to have marijuana in their home.

Board member Gary Hicks says the decision was upheld because it was not politically, racially or gender motivated.

He adds, it is not in the board's mandate to determine if a firing is fair.

jon ,dude you know that a few twigs and seeds is vastly different from rocks and pills and crack.I ve never seen a dude say man i am so mellow i think i will go and rob a store and tie people up.this was an over reaction and the punishment did not fit the so called crime.the husband will still get punished,so why should his wife pay as well.I guess if it had been crack or coke what then Jon,the death penalty for both?Cops and city managers should go after meth cooks and drug dealers and child predators and leave the stoners alone !

Jon are you seriously comparing cocaine to cannabis? Those seeds were made by nature and nature is from God.So are you saying God is wrong? It is a plant, and not chemically enhanced like cocaine and herion.Wise up Jon amd see God put it here for me and you to enjoy and to heal ourselves and our soul's.Just ashame more people don't say it.And 1 more thing about those seeds.GIVE me a joint and i am happy for the day,Give me a single seed and i am happy for life.Life is great!!!!!!!

ummm...this happened in LONE GROVE. Not Durant... But it does make all you other "good" cops look questionable... Makes all cops qestionable dirty or not..

Are you joking, her husband has cannabis in the house and she is terminated for it.It is only cannabis guys,It is a plant that grows natural with no chemical process. It sould be legalized and this type of situation should never happen.say what you want and go on and on with me,but it is wrong and that is the bottom line.It is no worse than alcohol or tabbaco. And all you pill poppers who wanna run your mouth at me,you are what is wrong with the society, you think because you go pick up your DOPE at at pharmacy that makes you better than someone that smokes cannabis. What a joke!!!

so a few seeds and some dried up twigs are not enough to break the law? Then I guess just a few lines is ok to right? and a few rocks......all the users need to move to lone grove if thats the case!!

Posted by: Anonymous on May 14, 2008 at 07:27 AM
WOW MR. X! YOU DIDNT SAY HANG HER! THATS A FIRST!

Posted by: sean Location: ardmore on May 13, 2008 at 08:37 PM
anyone living in lone grove knows that the city manager is full of it.if she does not like you you are gone.what they found were a few seeds and dried up twigs.they had no warrant, this is just a small town scam job.kristy actually worked and this was a threat to the rest of the lazy force, who made fun of her for patrolling so much of the time.what a shame a young lady that loved her job is gone due to political b.s.!

GOOD and SHE SHOULD NOT,EVER GET A POLICE JOB ANY WHERE.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 13, 2008 at 05:16 PM
I see a law suit with the City of Lone Grove if the City doesn't have a written policy about a officers actions while off-duty. So if Kristy didnt know about her husbands actions then I think she should sue.

hay, are you stupid or do you not know how to read? what part of "re-education on some terms" did you not understand? you are just trying to start a fight. where did you read that drug educator was letting on that weed isnt as bad as other drugs out there. i sure didnt read that in their comment? quit trying to start a fight.

Posted by: A Drug Educator on May 13, 2008 at 04:39 PM
Dear hay, no where did I say one was worse than the other. And for a lot of people weed isnt enough anymore, that you are right about. And it does not matter what kind of drug you are abusing, whether it be illegal or not its still bad. If you are given prescriptions and abusing them you need just as much help as those who are doing the illegal ones, because there will also come a point where what you are taking isnt going to be enough of a high so you do other things. But no where in my first comment did I say one was worse than the other. I was just simply letting people know that the terminology has changed, thats all. And I really dont know how you think I was letting anything on as to one drug being worse than the other because I never said any of that.

I do not think it is fair to fire someone for something that someone else did. Whether it be her husband or not. He is an adult and should be responsible for his own actions, not his wife.

dear educator, are stupid or do you smoke dope. how many people start with weed or pot and then move onto meth, cocaine or other drugs becuase weed does not cut it anymore. weed is just as bad as other drugs. i guess prescription drug abuse is ok also because a doctor prescribes it. the answer is no because it is all bad and the effects of drugs like weed and others are far greater than you let on. ask family members of people who use any drug.

You can be a cop and use drugs. Two prime examples - Johnny Rutherford and Jeff Frederick. Yes Johnny's was prescribed but if was trying to steal them then they would be illegal. Jeff Frederick was a Bryan County Deputy then moved to good ole Colbert Police Department. He was doing meth and pills on a daily basis. Not to mention selling out of his patrol car. It is a disgrace!

Ok we need to do a little re-education on some terms... Ive had to do this with my parents too along with the people i work with and teach, so please dont be offended, pot isnt called dope anymore, its just pot, or weed...or whatever other crazy nicknames it has now. Dope is a white powder, like cocaine, its a Methamphetamine with harmful chemicals in it.

She couldnt have been dipping into it because cops under go random drug testing. So why would she do it knowing it would test positive? Now wether or not she knew about her husband doing it thats another story. It doesnt take a genious to know if someone is smoking it. And on top of that how did they find out it was even in her house? I dont think she should of been fired for him using it unless it was in her system too. But thats just me...

Posted by: Bill on May 13, 2008 at 07:40 AM
If she wanted to be a cop her first arrest should have been the dope smoking husband. If she can't make the law equal for all, she has no place anywhere in law enforcement.

Wonder if she was dipping into the Wacky Tobacky herself? Takes one bad cop to make the others look bad. Chame on you for tarnishing your badge. You knew your husband was puffing the majic dragon. If not, then you don't need to be a cop.....wait, you aren't. Stay that way.
