Louisiana Evacuees Arrested in Sherman

10-31-05 - Two Louisiana evacuees who found refuge in Sherman are now in the Grayson County Jail accused of an armed home invasion. However, police believe it was probably the result of a drug deal.

Police received a call around 11 a.m. Sunday morning. The victim told police that two men, one he knew, forced their way into his home in the 4900 block of Highgrove Street.

The victim said they demanded money and struck him in the head when he claimed he did not have any. They then noticed a plastic bag of money sitting on a counter and grabbed it.

Going on the description of the men and the vehicle they left in, police located two suspects. They found the pistol and the plastic bag, but the bag contained marijuana, not money.

Police believe the two bought marijuana from the victim earlier but felt shorted and returned for more.

Rodney Craig Reynolds, 26, and Milton Lee Newman, Jr., 23, were arrested for aggravated robbery. No word yet on any drug charges they or the victim might face.
