11-1-05 - A former Carter County Health Department employee convicted last week for blackmail is now the victim of a crime himself. Someone stole a checkbook belonging to James Hicks and was then caught on tape using it.
Ardmore police say a man in a black jacket and white shirt and a woman in a red jacket were seen on a Wal-Mart surveillance camera writing a check. The pair is suspected of writing nine stolen checks in the past week totaling $2,000.
Hicks discovered his checks were missing late last week and called police. He recently plead guilty to the blackmail charge and received a 2-year deferred sentence.
If you recognize the couple in the video or have any information, call the Ardmore Police Department at 580-223-1212.
