11-7-05 – Drivers on Highway 75 in Sherman traveled through smoke and fire Sunday afternoon. Fourteen separate grassfires burned between Highway 75 at 691 and FM 1417.
The Department of Public Safety says all of the fires were caused by one man. He was towing a flat-bed trailer with a flat tire behind his pick-up truck. The sparks from the flat started the grassfires that kept Sherman firefighters busy most of the afternoon.
A trooper caught up with the driver and gave him three citations and four warnings for defective equipment.
